Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State on Friday met behind closed doors with the former governor of the State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
In a statement released by Kalu’s media office in Abuja, the governor hosted the Senate Chief Whip at his country home in Umuobiakwa, Obinngwa Local Government Area of the state.
The statement disclosed that Kalu alongside his aides arrived at the governor’s mansion at exactly 1:32 pm and both leaders went into a closed-door meeting some minutes later.
The statement reads in part: “Kalu who was accompanied by his retinue of aides and security staff disembarked from his official SUV and advanced to exchange greetings with the Abia Governor who was beaming with smiles on sighting the Senate Chief Whip.
“Immediately after their cordial greetings, Ikpeazu led Orji Kalu and his personal aides straight to his lounge.
“Shortly after another brief episode of pleasantries, the duo proceeded with the exemption of their aides into the inner room for a private meeting.”
This development follows Ikpeazu’s recent meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari which fueled speculations that he is planning to decamp to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
